To verify the base wind speeds and wind-borne debris region for a parcel depending on type of building:

1. Locate the parcel on the map by using either the parcel search or address search located on the page below, or by going directly to the map by clicking this link and using the map tools to pan and zoom to a local level view.
2. Determine the category of building that you are inquiring about:

   • CAT 1 BLDGS – Agricultural buildings, storage buildings, screen rooms and similar structures

   • CAT 2 & 3 BLDGS - Single family residences, duplexes, townhouses, schools colleges and similar structures

   • CAT 4 & Health Care Facilities – Hospitals, police stations, fire houses, emergency management facilities and similar structures

3. To establish your base wind speed:

   • Locate the main heading “Florida Building Code Wind Map” in the Layers section on the left side of the map. Place a check mark in the box next to the heading by clicking the box.

   • Next; locate the “Windspeed Zones 2010” heading in the layers section. Place a check mark in the box next to the heading.

   • Next; place a check mark in the box next to the category of building that corresponds with your inquiry. After the map processes the request, match the color of the map to the legend in the building category chosen and read the wind speed number just to the right of the color. This is your basic wind speed.

4. To determine if your property is impacted by the wind-borne debris region:

   • Locate the main heading “Florida Building Code Wind Map” in the Layers section on the left side of the map. Place a check mark in the box next to the heading by left clicking the box.

   • Next; locate the “Windborne Debris Zone 2010” heading in the layers section. Place a check mark in the box next to the heading.

   • Next; place a check mark in the box next to the category of building that corresponds with your inquiry. After the map processes the request, match the color of the map to the legend in the building category chosen. If it's in the shaded area your property is subject to wind-borne requirements.
